ASSISTANT TO THE CLEANING LADY

G'Day again Friends!

I just HAVE to tell you about my new position as ASSISTANT TO THE CLEANING LADY!

I have always been a lad who loves to help out around the house, supervising the vacuum cleaner, (to make sure it does its job properly!) - helping with the dusting, (rubbing up against everything gets rid of all the dust!) and, more importantly, assisting with the cleaning of the bath.

Ever since I was a puppy I have been interested in the bath. I would sit beside it when Audie was taking a shower, or soaking in that bubbly stuff that has a sweet smell of lavender about it. I would look into it with great curiosity as the water drained down the plug hole and made funny gurgly noises, and as soon as I was big enough, I'd jump in and chase that 'gurgly thing' in the drain pipe. (I'm still trying, but have never been able to catch it!)

I HAVE found another game to play though. I discovered, during my searches for the 'gurgle monster' that if I blow down it, it makes the 'gurgle monster' do that funny sound he does. So I must be getting close!

When our cleaning lady came, I would follow her about, wanting to help her with her chores, because she was a real nice lady. I watched what she did so I could be of more assistance. I saw how she scrubbed the bath and the tiles and the wash basin. I learned how important it was to get it all sparkling clean.

I helped her by carrying the sponge to her, and jumping into the bath as soon as she went into the bathroom to begin. (I had to be ready!)

I licked all the edges and inside the little box where the soap is kept.

(Actually, Audie has put the soap out of my reach because I tend to eat it! But, I need a generous amount of soap in my mouth in order to be able to do a good job. I've seen how the cleaning lady uses a LOT of soap and stuff when SHE'S cleaning!)

Anyway, I would then lick the tiles on the wall and stand on the side of the bath to lick the part of the basin that I could reach.

Oh, I was such a WONDERFUL HELP!

NOW, when the cleaning lady comes, I run straight to the bathroom, where she always starts first, so I can be in position to begin MY part of the work. She REALLY appreciates it because she always tells me what a 'wonderful boy' I am!

If she isn't quite ready, then I stretch out and blow down the plug hole - listening to the 'gurgle monster'. She laughs at me and tells me I'm 'cute', but I know she really envies me because she cant blow down the plug hole like I can, and I can get right DOWN to the job, while she, poor lady, has to BEND OVER!

(I have included some pictures so you can see that I REALLY DO clean the bath!)

That bath serves other purposes for me too. In Summer, when it's hot, I like to jump in there to relax because it's so cool. Also Caelan can't get in without being lifted, so it's a great place of refuge for me when I need to escape from her. (which is often!)

Last week when the cleaning lady was here, she appointed me, officially, as her assistant, telling me that she 'didn't know how she would ever get the work done WITHOUT my generous contribution'!

                            So, it's official. I am now the CLEANING LADY'S ASSISTANT.

                         (I'm still wondering what form my wages will take.TREATS I hope!)

LIAM THE CARER

G'Day Maties!

I've been so busy of late because Audie has come out of hospital and is still quite weak and sick, so I have been caring for her. Yes. ME!

Remember in my last story I was telling you how I'd been promoted to the position of ASSISTANT TO THE CLEANING LADY? Well, I've been promoted again, and this time my job is VERY important indeed! I am now the ASSISTANT TO THE PHYSIOTHERAPIST !

                                   How's that for a promotion, eh?

I help Audie in the shower to make sure she doesn't fall, and I get the towels for her when she has to have heat on her back and neck. When she's in pain, I just sit beside her and comfort her by gazing at her lovingly with my big brown eyes. Colleen holds her hand and Caelan licks her to cheer her up. We are SUCH GOOD children to our Audie.

I take care of other things too. Being the Man Of The House I bring in the mail (I really like the junk mail becuse it's got bright colours and pretty pictures.)

Audie reads it first and when she's finished I get to read it too. (Yes. I am a keen reader and often accompany Audie to the local Library. (She says I have a fine taste in books - or is it 'for' books?)

I am also her personal 'shredding machine' and when I've finished reading the junk mail, I shred it for her and take it outside to the bin for her to put in. (I haven't learned how to get the lid off yet!)

When Audie can drive, we always go with her, unless it is to the Dentist or some other medical appointment. We have to keep an eye on her, and guard the car when she is away shopping. I always help her carry things in, except things like meat or fish, which she never lets me touch.
(I can't imagine why. Surely she doesn't think I'd EAT it!)

We also guard the house and send away people we don't want, such as salesmen, who come to the door. But when people we like come visiting, oh, that is SUCH FUN!
